Combro Sabroso

Latin Dance & Reggae

Combro Sabroso

COMBO  SABROSO (”tasty” combo) presents soul cleansing Latin dance music  (salsa styles) and Latin jazz. Lead by pianist & vocalist Matt  Jenson and joined by the brilliant and playful lead vocals &  percussionist Manolo Mairena, with Costa Rican roots, the 6 piece band  is committed to the ‘salsa dura’ sound of the 1970’s. The band plays  hits from the likes of Eddie Palmieri, Oscar D’leon, Tito Puente and the  Buena Vista Social Club while also presenting inspired Latin  arrangements of popular songs from artists such as Marvin Gaye, Bill  Withers, Hall and Oats, Bob Marley and Santana. The jazz influence is  never far away as the band is made up of top-notch musicians who know  how to deliver inspired solos over the sometimes driving, sometimes  sublime Afro-Cuban rhythms that emanate from the stage. If the ensemble  is indeed ‘tasty,’ than the flavor is soul food for mind, body and soul.

Combo  Sabroso are: Matt Jenson on piano & vocals, Manolo Mairena on  percussion & vocals, Nate Edgar on bass and Bertram Lehmann on drums  with Ben Romanow on trombone and Kris Kristalys on flute.
