About the Event
Personal correspondence evolves with technology, but at what cost? The immediacy of texting doesn’t let us choose our words or develop our thoughts as clearly as we might. In this presentation, Boston-based etiquetteer Robert B. Dimmick looks at examples of beautiful letters through history, discusses efforts in this century to cultivate handwritten correspondence, and provides tips for writing a letter your recipient will want to read.
Robert Dimmick is a graduate of The English Manner and Beaumont Etiquette’s Train the Trainer Grade One with Merit. Since 2010 he has been associated with the Gibson House Museum, where he has presented programs on Victorian domestic life, mourning customs, and holiday traditions, among many others. His childhood safe space was his mother's copy of Emily Post's Etiquette, and he never declines a Manhattan after 5 p.m.
