About the Event
Bring the kids! Bring your folks! Build your very own boat and sail it at the Redd's Pond Regatta!
These small treasures are more than just toys. They really sail! This is a fun, educational activity the whole family will enjoy.
Our model boat kits are made by hand for the Marblehead Festival of Arts by our amazing partners at Tippecanoe Boats!
This popular event begins with a workshop where children construct and design a model sailboat at the Lee Mansion Gardens, and then sail it at Redd’s Pond competing against all the other boats! Family team participation is encouraged. Children must have adult supervision.
Model boat kits can be purchased online, picked up at the event, and then put together and painted at one of two sessions. Model boat kits will also be available for walk-up purchases on the day of the event. Model boat kits are only available while supplies last.
This year, for the first time, we will be giving snacks to each participant as well as an array of awards to recognize creativity, focus, collaboration, and also artistic talent, all courtesy of a festival endowment gift from the family of Herbert and Greta Howard. The first Howard Family Awards were given in 2024 and 2025 for the Sand Sculpture Contests.
While your water-bound creation dries, families can enjoy time at other Festival attractions or have lunch in town. Then, grab your sailboat masterpiece and then head over to Redd’s Pond for the annual Regatta.
