About the Event
Elisa Smith is an award-winning country songwriter and performer known for her gritty, soulful sound that blends vintage country with rock ’n’ roll edge. Often described as “Loretta Lynn meets The Rolling Stones,” her music captures nostalgia, wanderlust, heartbreak, and a rebellious spirit that resonates with audiences across New England and beyond. While a student at Harvard, Elisa met Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood. When she told Garth she loved to perform but couldn't get herself to get on a stage because of crippling stage fright, he invited her on stage to play a song saying "This is what we call bein' baptzied by fire." After her performance, Garth gave Elisa his guitar and told her to "sing her heart out/" Her life and music career have been forever changed because of his moment of kindness.
Elisa has released a growing catalog of work, including her debut EP "Hitch A Ride" (2018), her full-length album "Baptized By Fire" (2022), and her EP "Spirit On the Run" (2024). Her work has earned multiple award nominations including New England Music Award Country Artist of the Year, Boston Music Award Country Artist of the Year, and American Songwriter songwriting competition finalist. In 2025, Elisa took home the Josie Music Award for Female Country Song of the Year, accepting her award in the Opry stage in Nashville. She is recognized as one of New England’s standout country artists. It's been a wild ride, but Elisa is just warming up.
Tonight the band is Elisa Smith on guitar and vocals, Erin Bonnie on fiddle & vocals, Whit Love on electric guitar, Brandon Downs on bass and Matt Ricetti on drums. Come see Marblehead’s own Country star!!
