The winning logo above was introduced at the Logo Premiere party at FEN YANG in Marblehead on Jan 17th.

 Joanne Smith (L) with winning logo artist Lilu Shaunessey and her mother, Claudia Carnevale.   The winning logo has wide visibility on the 2018 Festival’s logo products—shirts, T-shirts, hats, wine glasses, and other memorabilia—available at the Festival’s Logo Store.  The new logo also adorns Festival posters, the printed Festival Program, and the Festival Web site.   During the July 4th weekend Festival, the semifinalist and finalist designs are displayed at the Logo Exhibit at the Unitarian Universalist Church.

BACKGROUND ON CONTESTANTS:

Lilu Shaughnessy is the winning artist. She moved to Marblehead in June 2017 and is a freshman at Marblehead High School. Her grandfather is a renowned artist in Europe and her mother is an artist as well. Growing up in an environment surrounded by artists, Lilu has always loved to draw. She loved her Middle School art class and even had some of her works exhibited at various local museums and selected to be used as a Public Service Announcement. Lilu has also participated in demonstrations at the Peabody Essex Museum which involved painting with watercolors. Lilu enjoys playing the guitar, spending time with her friends, and playing movie trivia games with her mom. She dreams of pursuing an artistic career in the future. 

The Runner ups:
Alicia Hart received her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art & Design and studied graphic design, typography an illustration at California College of Art & Design in Oakland, California. As a professional designer, Ms. Hart has worked primarily in corporate design.  In addition to design Ms. Hart’s interests are travel, gardening and historic preservation.
 

Margaret Leahy, a native of Newbury, MA, is excited to submit her first logo design to Marblehead Festival of Arts. Art has been a part of Margaret's life since Day One, expressed and explored through illustration, sewing, theatre, and then some. Under the banner of Feed Dog Productions, Margaret creates signage and stationery for businesses in and around the North Shore. Margaret holds a BA in English and Theatre from the University of Southern Maine, and is currently studying Graphic Design at North Shore Community College.
