(September 19, 2014) At a Garden Party event in the Seamans’ family gardens on Sunday, September 14th, the Marblehead Festival of Arts announced there is to be a gift of a Beverly Benson Seamans sculpture, a harbor seal, titled “Winslow II” to the Town of Marblehead. The original “Winslow I” was commissioned and installed near the home of renowned American painter, Homer Winslow, in southern Maine.
This harbor seal sculpture, a donation from both the Seamans Family and the Marblehead Festival of Arts, is to be installed in Crocker Park as part of the MFoA’s 50th Festival Celebration. “Winslow II” will be a contribution to Marblehead’s history, a symbol of celebration and commemoration for the abundance of art within the town, including 50 years of MFoA Festivals, and the Seamans’ long history of community commitment. The dedication ceremony will be in the Spring of 2015.
