Marblehead Festival of Arts
Announces 2017 Scholarship Awards
Eligibility and Criteria
Among the many activities and events sponsored by The Marblehead Festival of Arts over the course of the year, the Festival is particularly proud to support our community by awarding scholarships to deserving Marblehead students. This year, we are proud to announce that we will be presenting the Warwick Foundation Scholarship. This Scholarship is made possible though a generous donation that the Warwick Foundation made to the Festival of Arts.
Each scholarship is for $3,000 and are presented to deserving high school seniors pursuing higher education in visual or performing arts, crafts or music. The objective in awarding these scholarships is to encourage the graduating senior interested in pursuing the arts professionally to acquire sound academic grounding in his or her field of choice. The Art Scholarship is awarded to a senior who resides in or attends school in Marblehead. The Warwick Foundation scholarship will be awarded to a senior at Marblehead High School.
The Festival Scholarship Committee co-chairs Janet and Ron Lamkin along with committee members Herb Goldberg, Mike Evers, Steve Lickwar and Anthony Silva define the criteria in selecting a winning candidate as follows: financial need, general academics, art achievements, arts-related and other activities both within school as well as the community, honors and special citations received, and a student’s intended vocation.
Applications are available at Marblehead High School and online. Information about the scholarship is available on the web site or by contacting artscholarship@MarbleheadFestival.org. The application deadline: April 14, 2017.
The Festival also offers the $500 Milton Bloom Student Art Scholarship sponsored by the Bloom family in memory of Milton Bloom a lifelong supporter of the arts. This award is open to students in grades 7 through 11 who reside or attend school in Marblehead. Selection is based on artistic talent, accomplishments and motivation.
