I choose my subjects as often from the commonplace as from the inherently picturesque, looking for that which reveals the city’s true personality. I enjoy the challenge of finding visual interest in scenes which ordinarily go unnoticed.
In following the mission of the Marblehead Festival of Arts “To promote, foster and encourage the fine arts and other forms of arts and crafts” we thought it would be nice to explore the North Shore and highlight skilled and interesting artists as well as art events that we believe might be of interest to friends of the Festival.
It’s only a short trip to Gloucester from most places on the North Shore and down by it’s waterfront you will find on the bottom floor of an old sail loft building at 16 Rogers St. the Jeff Weaver Gallery. Jeff is a gracious host willing to talk about art whether its his own wonderful gallery pieces, the newest show at the Cape Ann Museum or the artists that he likes or inspire him. So next time your in Gloucester and you need an art enthusiasm injection stop by Jeff’s Gallery to view some wonderful painting or a friendly chat. He’s open Friday and Saturday’s from 1 to 5pm (or by chance at other times) Visit his website for a sneak preview
