Boxes in Bloom
Abbot Hall, 188 Washington Street

Logo for Boxes in Bloom, Marblehead Festival of Arts.
Boxes in Bloom, a judged exhibit of business and residential window boxes and entryways, provides Marblehead horticulturists the opportunity to show off their artistic creativity. The Boxes in Bloom competition is based upon successful execution of a theme of the entrant's choosing. Window boxes are eligible if they are visible from the street and attached to a residential or business structure, including garages, sheds, fences, posts, etc. Entryways or doorways may include freestanding containers and hanging baskets.

Since we must give Mother Nature and our horticulturists ample time to do their magic, Boxes in Bloom entries are judged late in June — too late for inclusion in the printed Festival Program. During the Festival, a Boxes in Bloom display at Abbot Hall features photos of all entries and maps which are available for your own, self-guided tour. Entries are marked with numbered flags bearing the Festival’s Boxes in Bloom logo.
