Sixty Punds of Lobsters Up for Grabs
On July 23, three lucky people will receive telephone calls telling them that they have just won twenty pounds of lobsters from the Marblehead Lobster Company. For on that day the Marblehead Rotary Club will pull the winning raffle ticket at the Club’s annual golf tournament and announce the big winners of the delectable delicacy.
The drawing is the culmination of weeks of work by the Club in its effort to raise over $10,000 in order to send Marblehead children to summer camps of their choice next year. This annual fund raiser has had great success in completing its mission. In fact, this summer twenty-seven kids and teens whose families could not afford such a summer experience are enjoying the adventure and camaraderie of camp courtesy of the Marblehead Rotary Club’s lobster raffle.
For any of us who had to opportunity to go to summer camp, the memory of that experience is something that stays with us even as we grow older. The new friends we met, the activities we tried for the first time, and the opportunity to “be on our own” – all contributed to our growth and ability to socialize with others. Over the years, the Marblehead Rotary Club has had a special interest in helping children to have camp experiences. This is accomplished by its sale of lobster raffle tickets.
If you would like the opportunity to win all that lobster (which can be taken all at once or a little at a time through September) and at the same time help send our community’s children to camp, stop by one of the following businesses to purchase your tickets. The cost is only $3 each or three for $5.
